As the end of August approaches I've been enjoying the late summer blooms. The weather has been cooler and more pleasant. I hope you will join me for a quiet summer stroll around the gazebo.
The soft colors of 'Endless Summer'.
They can't seem to decide what color they really want to be :-)
Japanese Anemones are stalwarts of the late season garden ...
They add a bit of romance, don't you think?
I have been so pleased with my 'Blue Chip' butterfly bush this year.
David Austin roses are still my favorite. 'Mary' is as fragrant as they come.
A small patch of purple and pink phlox ...
Most of them were snacks for the bunnies.
Leucanthemum 'Becky' blooming profusely in beautiful white.
The clematis I purchased earlier in the summer is now blooming. This variety is 'Diamantina' by Raymond Evison.
When the flowers open they create a three-tiered effect. As the outer petals drop, the flower will change shape resembling a pom-pom. It is hard to believe the above flower now looks like this.
Texensis 'Princess Diana' has miniature, tulip like flowers with a deep pink central bar.
Clematis 'Jackmanii' is a classic with its blue-violet blooms.
Campanula is covered in beautiful bells ...
The dangling bells look so pretty in the sunlight and swaying in the breeze.
Two urn planters flank the gazebo door filled with annuals.
Nemesia 'Opal Innocence' was placed in the center ...
Surrounded by Superbena 'Lilac Blue' ...
and gorgeous variegated petunias.

Wow so many beautiful flowers! The campanula catches my heart the most! Love that color! I found some blue ones growing all by their lonesome outback by the woods but their flower heads don't hang like these!
ReplyDeleteOh my these are just beautiful..so soft and pretty..You had visited my butterfly post..The top photo was a viceroy and the bottom a monarch. I recently released the last monarch butterfly that I raised from an egg. It was a very hot and dry year and not good for the butterflies. ReplyDeleteDonna, your photos are gorgeous, as are your flowers and garden areas. I'm a sucker for a hydrangea. In my yard, by comparison, the blackberry vines are fruiting over the back fence (from behind it into our yard) so at least I had enough to make a batch of jam this weekend. :-)

ReplyDeleteO Donna, I'm so glad you paid me a visit. Now I could return the visit and wow, you have a beautiful garden. Your choice of plants is amazing in the way that those are all favourites of mine as well and I love the colours you choose. I tried all of those at one time or another in our garden but they didn't all do well here. We have a lot of shadow and clay soil. Not all plants like that, especially the summer bloomers need much more sun. That has led to a garden with a lot of hydrangeas, they appreciate a more shaded place, but we do have to water them almost every day in dry periods because the soil gets so very dry and rocky then. I will have a further stroll around your blog now ;-)

LOL I did plant some mums in the front last week and they are thriving so far. The back is luscious thanks to an irrigation system. ( I also admit to being forgetful.) You have so many flowers within the same hue, and they are so fabulous. We don't have this much numbers of that color here, just like the blues. But we have a lot of reds and orange.

So many of your plants are ones that I love. I just planted a Jackmanii Clematis that I got for $1 on clearance at Lowes. Can't wait to see it bloom next year. It is one of my favorites.
