Movie Time

Hi blogging friends,

In January, Rochester Rocs held their yearly best local movie theatre contest and I'm thrilled to announce the Star Theatre of Dansville won again!  This hometown theatre first opened their doors on June 4, 1921 showing 35mm black and white silent films.  In the mid 80's the theatre closed and then reopened in 1994 by the 'Schmidt' family (my cousins).  The Star Theatre went from 35mm platter mounted projection to digital projection and Dolby digital surround sound.

Below are some photos of the marquee throughout the years.

and this is what the marquee looks like today ...

The inside of the theatre is gorgeous and has been fully restored.  Let's take a peek ...

I can just see myself watching an old Marilyn Monroe movie on the big screen enjoying some buttery popcorn!

So my card to congratulate Edgar and the team was inspired by the marquee.  I've combined Coredinations Pearls paper with Black Tie Glitter paper and Recollections Cherry.  The banner was created using the Papertrey Ink Notched Star Banner die.  The individual stars were cut from the PTI Seeing Stars dies.

SU's 'That's the Ticket' set came in handy for the movie tickets, which were punched out with the Ticket Duo punch.  I also found some Ideo-ology film strip ribbon, which I fastened to the front using mini star brads.

Congratulations was stamped inside with StazOn Black and embossed with clear embossing powder.  I added a small Star Theatre banner with a glittered star.

A big shout out to the Star Theatre for winning Rochester Rocs!  You have created a wonderful piece of history in downtown Dansville.

Hugs to Chuck, Edgar, Lois & Carl.

What a beautiful card. They don't make movie theatres like they use to. We use to have several ones in our home town and they torn two of them now. It was such a shame. They look like something out of Hollywood in there hayday.
