Where Bloggers Create 2014

Hi, I'm Donna.  Welcome everyone to my blog and crafting studio.  I'm so excited to be participating in the 6th annual 'Where Bloggers Create' party hosted by the lovely Karen Valentine from My Desert Cottage.  I want to take a moment to thank Karen for putting together this wonderful event.  It is a perfect time for renewing old friendships and celebrating new ones.  Karen is a very talented lady who redesigned my blog several years ago.  To this day I still enjoy the timeless design.

My craft room began as a bedroom and has since evolved into my crafting studio/office.  It is not a large space, but I have tried to make the most of it so that everything is within reach and accessible when my 'mojo' is flowing.  I create handmade cards with rubber stamps and digital images.  It is a hobby I picked up six years ago.  Donna's Designs has been featured in Creating Vintage Charm, Artful Blogging, Romantic Homes, Gatherings, Rubber Stamp Madness and Old Fashioned Living.

When the time came to redo the room I created a basic layout and off I went to research what would work for my space without going to the expensive of having custom cabinetry.  I envisioned a light an airy space in a neutral color.  The cabinets I selected are from Ballard Designs and were installed by my darling husband.  On their site they have a design your space guide, which will help you figure out exactly what you need to custom-fit your space.

Shall we take a tour?  I should warn you there are lots of photos, but at the end there is a giveaway!

As you step into the room to the right I have my multi-functional printer as well as my computer for doing digital work, blogging and photography.  Above the printer is a Pottery Barn Craft Organizer which holds 'general' gift wrap most of the year and then 'seasonal' wrap at Christmas time.  The cute cubbies hold scraps of ribbon and twine.

Shelves store bottles of glitter glass (it is too pretty to be hidden away) as well as Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist sprays.  Ikea Rajtan glass jars hold frequently used embellishments for card making.

The credenza holds office supplies, files, label maker and software books.

A 3-drawer hutch works perfectly for my everyday stamp sets.  I spent quite a bit of time thinking and re-thinking about how I should store them ... LOL!  They are within reach and grouped by theme.  My seasonal stamps are kept in another area.

The beautiful box and topiary are from the Unique Box Boutique on Etsy.

A few loose background stamps are kept on top.

The hutch drawers house scrapbooking tape ...

Copic markers ...

Adhesives, paints, gamsol, etc.

Shall we see what is in the other credenza?  The first set of drawers hold colored pencils, markers, chalks, and distressing items.  Each drawer is labeled for easy access.

In the middle set of drawers we have tools, embossing, chipboard and Zutter supplies.

The drawers on the right hold all kinds of seam binding, ribbons and twine.  I have tried to organize the ribbons by color.

This next cabinet is my favorite!  It has 8 pull out drawers and is very efficient for holding all those embellishments and doo-dads!  Each drawer is labeled for quick access.

In here we have the following:

StazOn, Distress, Brilliance, VersaMagic and Kaleidacolor ink pads.

Shimmerz Paints and embossing powders in all colors.

A whole drawer filled with glitters and perfect pearls!

Pearls and rhinestones of all kinds ...

Roses are a must ...

Seasonal accessories ...

Hardware such as brads, charms and ribbon slides ...

Memory glass, frames, SU hodgepodge hardware and overflow seam binding.

On top is my 'ink & embellishment station'.  These are all of my Stampin' Up! inks and embellishments. The carousals are also from SU.

Lots of ink refills for watercoloring.

Roses are the theme in my craft studio.

I don't believe a girl can ever have too many drawers!  I have a confession - it took me quite a while to pick out the knobs for this cabinet.  I looked everywhere and then finally came across these metal Fleur de Lis knobs with gold gild.  They screamed buy me!

A vintage cupboard holds more stamping supplies.

The top shelf has all kinds of envelopes, clear boxes for packaging and cellophane bags.

Here we have assorted folded cards, 6" x 6" paper pads, and card kits.

Several shelves hold Stampin' Up paper packs.  The stacks are colored coded making it easy to find what you need.

On the bottom there are a couple of plastic boxes, which hold more paper roses.

I've decorated the top of the cabinet with a rose garland.  A Longaberger basket draped with a lace edged napkin holds paper roses.

This pocket organizer I picked up for a few dollars and decorated it with lace, pearls and seam binding.  The slots are perfect for holding tags.

A while ago I shared with you my lace ribbon project.  You can see that post here.

A few handmade items I have picked up over the years.

If you haven't already met Cheops he is my constant companion.  He oversees everything that goes on and is part of the quality control team!

Oh, I can't forget to show you my vintage framed memo board.  One side is magnetic covered with fabric and when you flip it over the other is a chalkboard.  The pattern is 'document' and you can find a similar fabric at Ballard Designs.

Silk and lace gillyflowers were made by my friend Jennelise.

Last summer I picked up this vintage Shabby chic basket for overflow stamps.  The gorgeous fabric liner is a wonderful inspiration.

As you can see, I am a very organized stamper.  Let's take a peek at what is on my desk.

Paintbrushes fill a decorated mason jar.

A whitewashed basket holds pretty paper roses.

Paper clips come in handy for all kinds of things.

A few handmade cards I have created.

I also enjoy creating Stampscapes cards.

Thank you for stopping by to visit me and for taking the tour (are you blurry-eyed now)?  I would love your feedback and any suggestions you may have.  I'm thinking about putting some shelving up.  I'm looking forward to visiting other artists and finding inspiration from their spaces.

I'm also hosting a giveaway for this beautiful vintage style ivory rose and pearl necklace.  It was created by the wonderful Julie Weingarten from JoolaDesigns.

What a beautiful space, Donna! I love how everything is so wonderfully organized. Love all your stamps and inks. I think I would have a hard time choosing which to use for a project! You've got some great storage pieces, too, with the basket and the canvas pocket hanging. Did you make that? I have been thinking of getting a canvas shoe organizer to use on the back of my door in my creative space. I have such a small room that utilizing this area better would be helpful. Thanks for the tour!

The mason jar with your paintbrushes is the cutest thing I've ever seen. I would love to make a few for my studio!

Thanks for the generous giveaway. What a pretty necklace!

Thanks for the tour of your pretty studio!
