I have some fresh tulips from my garden to share with you today. I just love pink and purple flowers! Tulips, always make me think of clogs and windmills. Of course, tulips don't have the vibrant scent like roses, but they do have their own unique style of splendor.
A blossoms basket filled with purple tulips.
So soft and elegant ...
Although different tulip colors carry distinct meanings - yellow tulips symbolizing cheerful thoughts, white conveying forgiveness and purple representing royalty - a Turkish legend may be responsible for the red tulip's symbolism. The story goes that a prince named Farhad was love struck by a maiden named Shirin. When Farhad learned that Shirin had been killed, he was so overcome with grief that he killed himself - riding his horse over the edge of a cliff. It's said that a scarlet tulip sprang up from each droplet of his blood, giving the red tulip the meaning "perfect love."
I'm enjoying tea on the patio with my Royal Albert "Prairie Crocus" teacup. This cup is one of my favorites with its lavish gold gilt.
An airy trellis basket with an open weave transports tulips to the kitchen.
"Grow what you love. The love will keep it growing."

Your tea cup is gorgeous! It looks amazing with the lovely tulips! Happy Tea Day!
Hi Donna,
this Turkish love story ends really sad. I love tulips very much, especially their texture and the special scent. We have a song, which says, Narcissus and Tulipan have nicer clothes than the silk of king Salomo. And if one look close to a tulips bloom, one can see that the blossoms do iridesce like silk. Thank you for this delightful tea time, the tea cup is gorgeous as the flowers.
Best greetings, Johanna
