My brother's birthday is today and since he recently purchased a boat, I knew I wanted to create a nautical card for him. I've pulled out The Open Sea by Stampin' Up! When this stamp set was offered I told myself I didn't need it, but eventually I gave in after seeing so many wonderful cards with it.
I started with a piece of Naturals Ivory and randomly stamped the globe image in Chocolate Chip ink. The ship's log was stamped in Crumb Cake and mounted to a piece of Not Quite Navy. Both were cut from deckled rectangle dies. Sponging around the edges was done in ColorBox Chalk Creamy Brown and Dark Brown.
The porthole was created from classic circle dies and popped up. Birthday Wishes was stamped in VersaMark and embossed with gold embossing powder on a ribbon banner. An antique brad and anchor finish it off. Everything was mounted to a Not Quite Navy card.
A peek at the inside
So here's wishing my brother a Happy Birthday! May you have many more :-) I'm linking with Make It Monday, Make It Pretty @ The Dedicated House, Inspire Me Monday @ Create with Joy and Crafty Tuesday @ Blueberry Craft & Hobby.

How pretty! Funnily enough we were talking about sailing ships the other night in the pub and how they were the first to make the earth a global village in the 1500s.
